Unemployment: South Africa is a global outlier

Speaking to 702’s John Perlman, Ann Bernstein discussed the latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey stats for the third quarter of 2020. “The most important number to understand around unemployment is what percentage of the work force is actually employed and South Africa is a complete global outlier in that area pre-Covid. Most countries have around 60% of their work force employed and in South Africa, pre-Covid it was about 42%,” she said.
