An inadequate jobs plan from the governing party

The executive director of CDE, Ann Bernstein, featured on SABC News’ Full View programme to discuss the governing party’s jobs plan featured in their electoral manifesto. Calling it a “totally inadequate offering”, she outlined that the 2.5 million jobs promised in their jobs plan are mostly part time or temporary positions that equate to 300 000 full time jobs. Bernstein called for much faster growth and to free up the private sector in order to boost employment. She said, “We need to act quickly to start delivering effective skills training institution. The country is in serious crisis on a number of fronts, and you don’t get any sense of that from this elections manifesto.”
