In a discussion with Gustav Greyling on RSG, Stefan Schirmer, CDE’s research director shared insights on how deep the education system crisis is in South Africa. He said, “80% of the children in our schools aren’t going to get the proper education they need even if they get excellent education after the schooling years. If you don’t have the fundamental ability read and add, you will probably never catch up.”

This media interview is based on a new CDE report titled: “THE SILENT CRISIS: Time to fix South Africa’s Schools.”
