CDE’s Ann Bernstein spoke to Cape Talk’s Charlotte Kilbane about South Africa’s gross domestic product having contracted by 16.4% since quarter one (51% annualised). Ann said that South Africa does not just have a growth crisis, but an unemployment crisis, fiscal crisis, and a welfare and social stability crisis. “We have to understand that we need fundamental reforms in order to get our economy growing again, we need a growth strategy which doesn’t mean more of the same because we weren’t growing,” she added.
