Speaking to eNCA’s Tumelo Mothotoane CDE’s Ann Bernstein discusses a new approach to housing and urban development. Ann explained that more and more entrepreneurs are rebuilding South Africa’s cities. She said, “think about the RDP programme, what we’ve done is provide subsidised housing for millions of people and South Africa has done an impressive job since we became a democracy but because of the costs, we’ve acquired land normally on the outskirts of cities or towns and we’ve generally placed poor and unemployed people in these segregated housing units.”
