CDE calls for bold leadership from President

Speaking to Newzroom Afrika’s Cathy Mohlahlana, CDE’s Ann Bernstein weighed in on South Africa’s current leadership crisis urging The President to do better starting with fixing the leadership issues at the Department of Health. Although she commends President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent bold reforms in the electricity sector, Ann implored the President to be as bold in appointing a new health minister. “We shouldn’t be looking at the bottom of the barrel for yet another person who hasn’t got the experience to run a very large system and to build a team in the midst of a crisis and run a complex vaccine rollout; the President should look beyond the ANC,” she added.
